The High Electoral Council has announced the calendar for the 11th of October Presidential elections and the referendum to take place on the constitution that foresees changes that will allow the number of judges to increase at the Higher Courts.
In accordance with the calendar the election bans will come into force on the 12th of August.
Those who want to compete in the presidential elections can apply on the 4th of September and once the candidates have been approved they will be declared on the 14th of September.
Election propaganda will begin on the 15th of September.
The propaganda period will come to an end on the 10th of October.
The High Electoral Council has previously announced that the Presidential elections were going to be held on the 26th of April but due to the COVID-19 pandemic after a majority vote at the Republic’s Assembly the elections were postponed until the 11th of October.
The last time presidential elections were held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) was in 2015.
