Turkish Airlines (THY) has resumed commercial flights between Ercan and Istanbul on a limited scale.
THY will be flying to and from the TRNC four times a week.
Passengers travelling from Ercan to Turkey are not required to enter 14-days of mandatory quarantine or present a negative PCR test when entering the country as the TRNC has been Covid-19 free for the past 65 days.
Meanwhile, all passengers onboard a Turkish Airline flight from Istanbul to Ercan were placed in mandatory 14-day quarantine upon their arrival in line with the Council of Minister’s decision in force until July 1.
Health Minister Undersecretary Ali Çaygür said that passengers travelling to Turkey from the TRNC were not required to enter quarantine as no new cases of coronavirus had been detected in the TRNC for more than two months.
Also referring to the Council of Minister’s decision, Çaygür said that the decision to lift the quarantine requirement for passengers arriving from Turkey as of July 1 will be re-evaluated according to the changing situation in the country.
